Central Algoma Pharmacy Opens
The shelves are stocked and the doors are open at the newest business in Bruce Mines.

Central Algoma Pharmacy, located in the Central Algoma Health Centre on Highway 17 East in Bruce Mines, opened for business on Monday, March 16th.

Renovations to accommodate the new pharmacy began in the fall of 2014 and were completed earlier this year. To make space, Dr. Sicoli’s Chiropractic office was relocated to the rear of the building.

Owner and pharmacist, Cyrus Sagart, has worked all over Northern Ontario providing temporary coverage for other pharmacists on leave. He has also worked for large pharmacies in Toronto, but prefers to work in small communities. So when he discovered that Bruce Mines had a health centre and physicians without a pharmacy, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to fill the need.

Cyrus left his most recent position as Pharmacy Manager in Haliburton Ontario, to open his own business in Bruce Mines. His wife and toddler will join him here, after the pharmacy has been up and running for a month.

Cyrus looks forward to getting to know his customers and providing more than just a dispensing service. He explains that pharmacists work closely with physicians to ensure their patient’s medications are up to date and compatible with other medications and off the shelf products they may be using. The new pharmacy has a small office where Cyrus will be able to consult with customers in private.

Central Algoma Pharmacy employs one full time and one part time Pharmacy Technician. Anyone interested in transferring their medications over to the new pharmacy can call them at 705-785-3555 or stop in and check out the new business at 9242 Highway 17 east. Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am-7pm and Saturdays 10am-4pm.
