Thessalon Skier Makes Talent Squad

Thessalon Skier Makes Talent Squad
Shilo Rousseau of Thessalon, was nominated to the 2015 Ontario Talent Squad for cross country skiing.

Shilo was the number one choice out of six Ontario girls her age, chosen for this year’s squad. This is a privilege Shilo has worked very hard for, and should be an excellent opportunity for her to meet and training with other elite skiers.

As part of the Ontario Team, Shilo will attend training camps in Barrie, Ottawa, and Thunder Bay this summer. She will also ski in Quebec’s, Forêt Montmorency, in the fall.

Forêt Montmorency is an experimental forestry station and outdoor education centre operated by the University of Laval. It is north of Quebec City and located in one of the highest snowfall regions of Quebec.

Apparently, they take cross country skiing very seriously. Shilo’s mom, Cecilia informed us that, “at this facility they actually bury snow underground for the summer and uncover it in the fall to provide early trail skiing”.

Shilo’s biathlon coach and dad, Yves Rousseau, hopes that training with the Ontario Team will produce some great racing results again next season.

Go Shilo!
