Desbarats Fishing Derby a Success
The Reg McHale Memorial Family Pike Derby host by the Township of Johnson and the Desbarats Fire Department was a huge success on Saturday June 25th, 2016.

Only in its second year, this derby has grown from 130 registered participants in 2015, to a total of 179 youth and adult fishers trying to catch the longest pike at this year’s event.

Anglers were encouraged to allow their fish to be released after it was measured, with an extra draw prize for those who did.

Girls know how to catch big pike, winning 3 out of the 4 adult prizes, including the grand prize of $300 cash won by Debbie Halverson with her 872mm pike.

Runners up in the adult division also included:

1st Greg  Ryckman 861mm, 2nd Sarah Ouimette 860mm, and 3rd Shelly Charette 855mm.

Winners In the youth division were:

1st Kent Leblanc 770mm, Dana Labelle 764mm, and 3rd Madix Sachro 725mm.
