Over eighty summer residents and community members stepped back in time on Sunday July 3rd at a Summer Victorian Tea fundraiser for the Hilton Union Public Library.

Library board members and volunteers hosted the tea party at the Hilton Beach Community Hall, serving fancy sandwiches, dainty desserts, strawberry shortcake and of course tea in beautiful cups and saucers. Proceeds from the event will go towards maintenance and upkeep on the library building.

Many of the guests arrived in their own Victorian attire, like seven year old Roxie Wilding. Roxie had the complete outfit from head to toe, attending with her mom Kara and grandmother Asta Paat (pictured to the right).

The hall was beautifully decorated with fresh cut floral arrangements and lined with antiques on display. Vintage dresses, hats, prams, dolls, tea sets, photographs and furniture were on loan for the day from numerous island residents.

The talented Janet Fleming (pictured at top) created her own Victorian dress for the occasion and also brought her grandmother's vintage wedding dress for guests to view.

Three photo sets were arranged with Victorian backdrops where Penny Wood took photographs and printed them off for guests, in exchange for a donation to the library.
