MALE CHARGED - IMPAIRED
(MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES, ON) - On April 14, 2017, shortly after 4:30 p.m., members from East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver that left in an eastbound direction on Highway 17 from the Town of Bruce Mines.
The vehicle was located on Highway 17 a short time later. A traffic stop was initiated. When speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. Further investigation determined the male driver was on conditions to abstain from alcohol and was arrested.
As result, Devin BEAN, 23 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with:
Driving While Ability Impaired -Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC;
Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC; and
Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on April 20, 2017.
FEMALE CHARGED-NO INSURANCE
(THESSALON) - On April 18, 2017, shortly before 12:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of vehicle on Highway 17 with a damaged back end and possible expired validation sticker on the plate.
The westbound vehicle was located on Highway 17 east of the Town of Thessalon. A traffic stop was initiated. Investigation determined the vehicle was not insured. The vehicle was towed.
As a result, Krista MARION, 27 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with: Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 3, 2017.
OPP CHARGE INTOXICATED MALE ON BICYCLE
(BRUCE MINES, ON)- On April 18, 2017, shortly after 7:30 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for assistance from Algoma District Paramedic that they were dealing with an intoxicated male that was passed out in the Town of Bruce Mines.
Police learned that the male had woken up and fled from the paramedics via his bicycle. Police located the male a short time later. The male was arrested due to his intoxicated state.
As a result, Jake NICHOLSON, 20 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with;
Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act; and
Having Liquor in Open Container in Other than Licenced Premises, Residence or Private Place, contrary to section 31(2) of the Liquor Licence Ac
