The Thessalon Arena was brimming with fans and spectators on Friday March 31st and Saturday April 1st as they took in the 2nd Annual North Shore Invitational High School Hockey Tournament. Participating teams included CASS, WC Eaket from Blind River, Manitoulin Secondary School and the defending champions Jeunesse Nord, also from Blind River.

The tournament featured a skills competition, sponsored by Vine Family Maple Syrup. Winners of the skills competition were; Riley Nadeau from JN in the fastest skater competition with a time of 13.1 seconds, Alex Smith from Manitoulin in shooting accuracy with an incredible performance in which he hit all 4 targets in 4 shots in 10 seconds, and Jack McLeod from CASS in the hardest shot competition with a blistering 91 MPH.
After 6 round robin games in which each team played each other once, CASS and JN emerged as the two top seeds, who would meet each other in the final for the second year in a row. In a back and forth affair which saw the lead change teams multiple times, the Huskies came out victorious by a 7-5 score, including an empty net goal by McLeod to complete the hat trick. Other goal scorers for the Huskies were Nolan Ford with 2 goals, Chase MacIntyre and Avri Pollari with singles. Ford also contributed 2 assists and took home the player of the game honour for CASS. For JN, Nadeau took home their player of the game honours with a hat trick and an assist in a very strong performance.
