On Monday May 28th, two teams from CASS traveled to Mississaugi First Nation for the 1st Annual NSSSA Slo-Pitch Tournament, CASS Varsity and CASS JV.  In all, six teams participated in the tournament, including Jeunesse-Nord (JN) and WC Eaket from Blind River, Wikwemikong High School, and ESC Franco-Ouest from Espanola.

The CASS JV team started the tournament with two wins over Wikwemikong and Franco-Ouest, before losing their next 3 games to both Blind River schools and CASS Varsity.  The JV squad lost a close 1-run game to WC Eaket in the bottom of the 7th.

The Varsity squad began their undefeated day with back to back wins over both Blind River Schools.  They went on to dispatch the other 3 teams in lopsided scores.

Jeunesse-Nord finished with a 4-1 record to set themselves up for a final game against the CASS Varsity squad.

The final match-up featured many players on both teams who faced each other in the NSSSA Invitational Hockey tournament final back in March, so there was some bragging rights on the line in what was a good-natured, close, back-and-forth championship game.

Both teams traded the lead back and forth as the game went on with neither team leading by more than 3 runs at any time.

Going into the bottom of the 6th, the Huskies were down 13-12.  The Huskies would prevail as they held onto a 15-13 lead in the top of the 7th inning.
