First Day of School in the Books

Central Algoma students headed back to class Tuesday morning and the new Grade 9's were greeted with a big welcome by the CASS Link Crew.

About 20 CASS students in Grade 11 and 12 signed up to be part of the Link Crew peer mentoring group. Their mission is to help Grade 9 students make the transition into high school as easy as possible. They create a connection at school as positive role models, who are acccessible to the new students.

The CASS Link Crew is available throughout the school year to help with academic, social, or any other issues new students may be struggling with.

A special assembly for Grade 9 students was held in the morning, with the Link Crew, led by teacher Christina Foster. Fun activities to help "break the ice" and get students interacting with each other, was part of their morning.

Grade 10-12 students were bussed in separately; starting their classes at 11:30am.
