Legion week started Monday with area cenotaph visits and a dedication at Branch 374 to the late Comrade Ches Wallace.

A new bench, located beside the flag pole, was dedicated to Comrade Wallace in a ceremony attended by his daughter Peggy from Bruce Mines, daughter Jane and granddaughter Grace from Bracebridge.

The bench was covered in the Wallace tartan until the unveiling Monday afternoon. Comrade Sandy Ross piped for the ceremony and Comrade Carol Trainor spoke of the selfless dedication and support Ches showed for St. Joseph Island Branch 374.

There is a full schedule of events happening throughout the week at Branch 374 and Legion Week will wrap up with a Mark Tarantini concert on Saturday night.
