Local Business on Dragon’s Den Tonight

Bill Betournay and his wife Viktoria have been working hard building their unique lubricant business over the past 4 years, from their home on St. Joseph Island. The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre in has assisted them in every step of the process. Bill says, “We really can’t say enough good about the help that we’ve received along the way. The SSMIC has been just awesome to work with and enabled us to make it this far.”

To celebrate the local business making it to Prime Time, The Innovation Centre is hosting a Dragon’s Den Viewing Party at Wacky Wings in Sault Ste. Marie, which has now sold out.

The Dragon’s Den appearance happened very quickly, with Stufff Lubricants Inc. submitting their application to be part of Season 13 on a Thursday night right before the deadline. They heard back from the show the next day, with an invitation to come to Toronto on Saturday for an audition.

Bill recalls how he and new business partner Jeff Greco, owner of  Cavera Inc. a marketing agency in Sault St. Marie, only had time to prepare in the car on the way down. “We loosely put together a presentation on the way there Friday, and were the first business called in Saturday morning to meet with two of the show’s producers.

Stufff Lubricants were contacted the following Wednesday and invited to return to Toronto that weekend for filming with the Dragons. Bill says, “This time around we were the very last business to get called in. It was a long, nerve racking, wait in the green room all day.”

The Stufff pitch and filming with the Dragons was April 21st, 2018 and the business owners have had to keep it all a secret, since that time.

The details of the Stufff pitch and outcome will be reveal during Prime Time on CBC TV tonight. Tune in at 8pm to see how this local business made out against the Dragons.
