Thursday was the December Diners’ Club held at the Legion in Richards Landing. This hugely popular event for local seniors, organized by the Dr. Trefry Centre, will be the last for retiring Trefry Program Coordinator, Melinda Thomas.

The monthly diners’ club is one of many senior programs run by the Dr. HS Trefry Memorial Centre. Melinda has been planning, organizing and implementing these programs and working hard to increase the level of accessibility for both seniors and disabled persons in our area.

Melinda will be transitioning into retirement at the end of the month and making time for other projects and hobbies she has on her to do list. “We have kids and grandchildren on both coasts, so we’ll be visiting them more often.”

The seniors were happy to hear Melinda plans on being an active volunteer in retirement.  “I have developed a deep connection to this community through my work at the centre and want to continue to be a part of that”, she says.

A new manager, Jennifer Amadio, has been hired and will be training with Melinda next week.
