The CASS Hockey team qualified for the NOSSA 'AAA' championships in Sault Ste. Marie being held on March 4th and 5th, with a thrilling 4-3 shootout win over the Superior Heights Steelhawks.

In a one-game playoff with the Steelhawks, the winner would round out the field for NOSSA 'AAA'.  The Steelhawks opened the scoring on the powerplay late in the first period.

The Huskies stormed back in the second period with three goals of their own.  Starting with a point shot from Mack Ableson, through traffic.  Ableson's goal was assisted by Nick Purnis and Isaac Wildman.  Next Spencer Osborne broke in alone on a stretch pass from Mason Mortimore and found an opening on the far side of the net to bring the score to 2-1.

Finally on the Huskies only powerplay of the game, Kayne Mortimore found an open Austin Mortimore in the slot, who one-timed the puck in the net for a 3-1 lead going into the third period.  Ableson also drew an assist on Mortimore's goal.

The rest of the game's fate landed squarely in the hands of goaltended Tyler Greco and the team's penalty killers, as the team had to kill off an astounding 9 powerplays, giving up only 2 goals.  The Steelhawks scored twice in the early stages of the third period to tie the game up.

When a 10-minute overtime didn't resolve anything, a 5-man shootout would be needed to determine a winner.  Superior Heights had the honour of shooting first, and Tyler Greco made the save.

Next up was Caden King, the Huskies first shooter.  Caden skated in down the middle of the ice, faked to his forehand and went to his backhand, hitting the near side post, and it bounced across the crease to hit the other post before trickling into the net.  King's goal would turn out to be the only goal of the shootout as Greco turned away the next four shooters from Superior Heights, and the next three Huskies were shut down by Superior Heights goaltender; Ablseon, K. Mortimore and A. Mortimore.
