On March 27th, 2019 members of the North Shore Health Network Auxiliary (NSHNA) – Thessalon Site Committee presented the NSHN Foundation with a donation of $154,500 to go towards the purchase of the new Digital X-ray Suite at the NSHN - Thessalon site.

The NSHNA – Thessalon Site Committee has been actively fundraising to support the purchase of this new equipment over the past year. Some of their fundraising events included 50/50 Draws, Bake Sales, Red Tag Day, Spring Luncheon, Tree of Lights and their very popular ‘Evening in Paris Gala’. They also received support and generous donations from many local businesses.

The new Digital X-ray Suite will be comprised of a ceiling mounted x-ray, x-ray table, wall stand, and technologist booth, and will provide the NSHN - Thessalon site the most current technology available.

Digital x-ray provides high quality images that can be viewed in seconds on a screen, instead of minutes after processing. The new process will also reduce radiation exposure for patients.

The support of the NSHNA – Thessalon Site Committee and the Thessalon community was vital in the purchase of this equipment. The Foundation is grateful for their continued support!

On March 27th, 2019 members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #374 St. Joseph Island and Branch #182 Thessalon presented the North Shore Health Network (NSHN) Foundation with Charitable Foundation Grants for a Pediatric Immobilizer ($5,680 each) at their respective NSHN sites.

Pediatric Immobilizers are used by X-ray Technologists to safely and securely take x-ray images of children. It can be tricky to keep an infant sitting still - but Pediatric Immobilizers allow the X-ray Technologist to quickly place the child in the correct position for optimal imaging, reducing the amount of x-ray exposure.

The Ontario Command Branches and Ladies’ Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation is a partner of the Branches of the Royal Canadian Legion and their Auxiliaries in Ontario Command.

Branches and Auxiliaries fund the Foundation through poppy tagging and activities such as BINGO, break-open tickets, raffles and clubhouse operations.

Through their collective strength, they are able to fund projects which are normally beyond the means of individual Branches.

The Royal Canadian Legion is a long-standing supporter of local hospitals, their generosity and volunteer efforts are very much appreciated.
