Construction Begins on Senior Complex

Construction began last week on the new seniors' housing complex in Richards Landing.

The build will be approximately 30,100 sq ft, (86’ x 350’). This one level, row house style complex will be located on Catherine Street, behind the Trefry Centre.

The housing complex will have 6 -1 bedroom units (1 of which will be accessible) and 6-2 bedroom units (1 of which will be accessible).

The contract was awarded to Praztek Construction of Timmins ON, and work on the site began the last week of March.

There is currently a wait list of more than 30 applicants for the existing Twin Rocks complex, proving there is a huge demand for this type of housing in our area. A similar housing project was completed at the end of 2018, in Echo Bay.

Over the next several months, while there is on-going construction, people are asked to use care when visiting the Trefry Centre or Twin Rocks complex.  “The lane that runs in front of the existing Twin Rocks units from Catherine Street is not intended as a through road.  Anyone accessing the Trefry Centre is asked to enter and exit from the C Line.”
