Hilton Beach Family Hosts Egg Hunt

A Hilton Beach family is ramping up for hunting season. Kris and Amy Desjardin are hosting their 4th annual Easter Egg Hunt in a really, really, big way, with 10,000 filled eggs.

Kris and Amy used to take their boys to a big egg hunt in Windor ON over Easter, but decided to stay closer to home and host their own event a few years ago. The couple has watched their event continue to grow ever since, with 135 kids participating last Easter and over 200 expected for 2019.

The Desjardins have learned a few things about egg hunting along the way, and are introducing some changes this time around. In the past, they’ve hidden special Golden Eggs that could be handed in for prizes.  This year the prize winning eggs will look just like the filled eggs, but with a ticket to the prize inside, ensuring every egg will get picked up and opened.

With numbers in the hundreds, the kids will be divided into 3 age categories: 3 and under, 4-7 years and 8-12 years. Each will have separate hunting grounds roped off for specifically for them. Also new this year will be bus rides from the Village of Hilton Beach public parking spaces to the Desjardin home and back.

Local businesses, friends and family have donated some amazing prizes including 6 bicycles and other sports equipment. Perfect for burning off all that sugar!

A visit from the Easter Bunny is also in the works.

The egg hunt will run on Good Friday from 1pm-3pm at 3233 Ash Street, Hilton Beach, ON. This is a free family event. Please check in with their Facebook event page so they have an idea how many people are coming. This is an outdoor event and families are asked to prepare accordingly.
