Some pretty amazing young girls at the St. Joseph Island Public School are planning a fundraiser and donating all of the proceeds to the Sick Kids Hospital that recently helped out their classmate Chase Glawson.

Chase, a grade 4 student from Richards Landing, has had a heart condition from birth, but was recently taken by medevac to Sick Kids Hospital after experiencing chest pains. Chase says, “I flew to the hospital in an airplane. Then they put about 20 stickers all over me and then got me to ride a bike and stuff.”

Hillary Glawson says, "Chase is home now, back at school, and being closely monitored by his Cardiologist."

Grade 4 teacher Alecia Campbell explained to her class why Chase was absent and where he was. Her daughter Olivia, who is in the same class, said to her mom one night, “I want to do something for Sick Kids because they helped Chase. Olivia was thinking of a lemonade stand, but it’s evolved into more since then.

Olivia and classmate Sydney Schmidt are making candy bags, selling water, freezies and lemonade. Olivia invited her older sister Julia to join in the sale.

Julia and fellow Grade 6 student, Charlotte Morrison have been super busy making items for a craft table. They have painted bird houses, bracelets, pot holders, and other handmade crafts ready for the fundraiser.

The girls want to invite everyone to come to their Sick Kids Fundraiser Sale on Saturday June 22nd from 11am-1pm in downtown Richards Landing in front of the Island Market.
