New Deer Check Stations:

The Sault College Natural Environment students will be operating additional Deer Check Stations this season, as a pilot study to obtain biological data on harvested deer from Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 36.

The stations will be setup in Desbarats (Nov 4-5 beside boat launch) and Echo Bay (Nov 7-8 Pit Stop). We are asking hunters to bring in their deer to have weighed, the jaws, as well as antlers (just to have measured). In return, these hunters will receive the 2019 Success Hunter Patch from the MNRF. Additionally, there will be a drop box setup outside of McClelland’s Hardware and Feed store.

The traditional St Joseph Island Check Station will be in operation from Nov 9th-16th located at the same location (Fannie’s Restaurant). Deer jaws can be brought to either station whether harvested during bow or rifle season.
