New Deer Check Stations this Season

New Deer Check Stations this Season
2015 Deer Check Station on St. Joseph Island.
The Sault College Natural Environment students will be operating additional Deer Check Stations this season, as a pilot study to obtain biological data on harvested deer from Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 36.

The stations will be setup in Desbarats on November 4th & 5th, beside boat launch,  and in Echo Bay on November 7th & 8th at the Pit Stop gas station.

Successful hunters are asked to bring in their deer to have it weighed, and the jaws, as well as the antlers measured. In return, these hunters will receive the 2019 Success Hunter Patch from the MNRF. Additionally, there will be a drop box setup outside of McClelland’s Hardware and Feed store in Desbarats.

The traditional St. Joseph Island Check Station will be in operation from November 9th-16th located at the same location, Fannie’s Restaurant (formerly Mom's). Deer jaws can be brought to either station whether harvested during bow or rifle season.
