Landing and Co. New Island Business

Meet Sarah and Geoff Tresidder proprietors of Landing and Co a new retail business in the works for Richards Landing.

Sarah and Geoff finally moved to Richards Landing in November 2019, after visiting family in the area over the past ten years. Geoff said, “We always dreamed of relocating to the Island, but needed to find a way to become employed here. We would sit at Camille’s Restaurant and look over at the building for sale, and talk about what we could do with it.”

They sold their home in Hamilton ON and in early December took possession of the building on the corner of Gore Street and Richards Street, formerly the Green Oak Gallery. They are thrilled with their purchase and love the location and history of the old building.

Sarah has experience working in a boutique and envisions Landing and Co as a retail shop that sells Canadian designed, Canadian made clothing, accessories, sustainably produced items: apothecary, specialty foods, ceramics, art, with some antiques and vintage treasures.

Geoff was a DJ at one point and has a huge record collection that he’ll be selling in one corner of the store. They also plan on setting up an online store.

The couple is living with Geoff’s mom on the Shore Road, while they focus on getting their business up and running. “The family connection is huge and we wouldn’t be attempting this without family nearby giving us all their support.” They also mention and appreciate how positive local residents and business owners, like Peggy from Moosesweats, have been towards their new business venture.

The energetic and enthusiastic couple are working on some interior renovations over the winter and making plans to open Landing and Co in the spring.
