Drug Warrant Executed in Blind River

On June 18, 2020, shortly after 4:00 p.m., members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and OPP North East Canine Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Archambeault Street in the Town of Blind River.

Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be: Crack Cocaine, Oxycodone and drug paraphernalia and over $ 1600 in Canadian currency. The street value of the drugs i s approximately $250.

As a result of the warrant, one person was arrested and charged:

Michel FORTIN, age 58, from Blind River, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance- Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA;
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Other Drugs, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA; and with
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blin d River on August 6, 2020.
