The Township of St. Joseph Parks, Recreation and Culture Committee is organizing a Fall Prediction Walk/Run event to be held Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 with staggered start beginning at 10am.

The event start/finish line will be held starting at the Centennial Grounds and using the 10th Sideroad walking trail (approximately 3km out and back). Registration will be limited to the first 95 participants.

You may be asking yourself, “What is a Prediction Walk/Run event?”. Are there any CASS grads who remember the “Contract Mile”? This recreation event involves participants practicing the route and investigating how much time it takes them on average to complete. The way to “Win” the race is to come closest to your predicted completion time. No timing devices or sideline coaching will be allowed for the Walk/Run. Volunteers will record your time and calculate against your predicted time.

The prize for the winner will be 50% of the registration cash proceeds (after Eventbrite fees), with the other 50% going to the local charity of the winner’s choice. Once the closest time is calculated the winner will be announced on October 5th.

Participants must pre-register and pre-pay for this event. The registration fee is $10. Registration via Eventbrite will open Sept. 14th online using the link here. Look for details on the Township website  and Events and Activities Facebook page .

This event is open to all ages, no dogs please.

There is the potential to run more prediction events over the four seasons including: snowshoeing, cycling etc. should residents be interested.
