Saturday morning was a beautiful fall day for the first ever Prediction Walk/Run hosted by the Township of St. Joseph Community Events & Activities Committee.

Fall Prediction Walk/Run Winner 2020

Twenty six participants predicted their time to walk or run the 3km 10th Side Road Trail from the Centennial Grounds in Richards Landing. Eleven of those who completed, were able to come within 60 seconds of their predicted time. Pretty amazing!

The overall winner was #19 James McShane who crossed the finish line within 2 seconds of his predicted time. Half of the entry fee proceeds will be awarded to James, totaling $109.33 and the other half, $109.33 will be donated on his behalf to the Matthew's Memorial Hospital Association.

Township Healthy Living Co-ordinator Sherie Gladu says, "We are always looking for new opportunities to keep people in our communities moving and active". Outdoor events like this, which follow Provincial and APH guidelines during the pandemic are so important for a community's physical and mental health. People can do the trail, be part of a fun competition, and feel connected to each other in a safe way. Virtual works, but real is better.

Plans are underway to host a Winter Prediction Snowshoe on the trails in early 2021, so watch out for that.
